Bulgur Pilaf Recipe with Green Lentils

Ingredients

  • 1 cup green lentils
  • 1 water glass of bulgur for pilaf
  • 1 onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons of oil
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 2.5 cups water (optionally broth)
  • Salt, black pepper


Preparation:

  1. Boil the Lentils: Wash the green lentils, put them in a pot, add enough water to cover them and boil until the lentils are soft. Drain and set aside.
  2. Saute the Onion: Heat the oil and butter in a separate pot. Add the chopped onion and saute until it turns pink.
  3. Add Bulgur: Add bulgur to the roasted onion and roast for a few more minutes. Then add the boiled green lentils and mix.
  4. Cooking: Add 2.5 cups of water (or broth). Add salt and black pepper. When it starts to boil, cover the pot and cook over low heat until the water is absorbed.
  5. Resting: After the pilaf is cooked, turn off the heat and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Serve: Stir and serve.
